Quickly find the text you are looking for in large output in Windows Terminal
Windows Terminal is an amazing terminal application with many features and Microsoft still adds new features to it with every new update. The ability to search for Windows Terminal buffers is available to users since the release of Windows Terminal Preview v0.8 in January 2020.
You can open the search drop-down menu by pressing the Ctrl + Shift + F shortcut keys to find and search text in Terminal Windows.
Type the text you want to search in the search bar and press enter. Matching text will be highlighted in gray on the screen.
You can search for more matching text in the output using the Find Up & Find Down button located near the search bar. The Find Up button will search for matching text above the current location of the matching word.
Likewise, the Find Down button will search for matching keywords under the current location of the matching words.
You can use the Match Case button to find text with the exact same letters as your text search typed.
This is how you look for output in Windows Terminal. The search functionality is still new and will only get better because Microsoft continues to work in the Windows Terminal.
